‘Augmented Pinball’ Interactive Installation by 464 Media Lab

464 Media Lab, a joint project of Myeongje Lee and John Soigne, focuses on creating interactive installations in which physical and virtual objects interact. Their last work titled Augmented Pinball has been presented in Seoul Citizens Hall.

This is the interactive installation, which includes a vertical pinball playfield and a console to operate the flippers. Creating an image and a composition of the installation, authors were inspired by the Vasiliy Kandinsky’s canvas Decisive Pink. Light projections of balls push off wooden barriers then change their position and are set in motion being hit by flippers. It seems to be a simple illustration how the distinction between virtual and physical space eliminates.
