“We dreamed of creating a house that could be picked up from the warehouse by the client, installed the same day, and be ready to live, without wasting time on finishing, selecting furniture, kitchens, dishes, and decor,” said the architects from the Moscow-based studio Bio-architects. And their latest project titled TOPOL27 is just that. The studio has designed a tiny cabin for local modular house manufacturer DublDom, which is fully assembled in a factory and delivered to a plot by only one truck.
TOPOL27 provides 27 sqm (290 sqft) of the floor area divided into five functional areas: a bedroom, a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom, and a dressing room. “A maximum of comfortable space on a minimum area,” described the architects. Each area is fully equipped and furnished, and all the decoration works are carried out at the factory. The client only needs to put linen on the bed and towels in the bathroom, and the house is ready for living.
Once inside, you might notice large windows harmoniously connecting the interior with surrounding nature. Another key feature is a compact fireplace, which heats the entire space, and at the same time, creates a cozy atmosphere and can be used for cooking. The curious fact is that most interior items are available at chain stores, so the owner can quickly find and replace them.
The architects utilized eco-friendly and durable materials suitable for active daily use. Thus on the floor, there is wear-resistant and hypoallergenic Forbo Flotex covering. Other materials include solid wood and natural oak veneer combined with black metal elements.
The facade features the same materials and colors — black metal and wood. Like many other tiny houses, TOPOL27 is a typical barn-style building. The exterior design makes the house delicately fit into any environment. It does not dominate nature and looks harmonious with many identical buildings.
The first sample of TOPOL27 was installed last year on the bank of Protva River for the Pine River Country Hotel. The stained-glass window by the bed is turned towards the river and the forest on the other side. The location combines openness to the outside world and privacy, opening up to nature from one side and hiding the room from curious eyes from the road.
Created initially as a product for business, TOPOL27 is going into mass production and will soon be available for private customers. And finally the prices. TOPOL27 is offered for ₽3,300.000 (or about $33,000), which is not much if we compare it with other prefab houses. For example, the price of the Orchid tiny house, which has quite similar dimensions and floor area, starts at $195.000.
