Nat-2 is a German high-end sneaker brand that produces 100% vegan sneakers, experimenting with quite surprising materials, such as coffee, fungus, or fish leather. One of the company’s latest products is Hayfield sneakers, which are made with real recycled hay, grass, and flowers collected from Austrian and Bavarian hayfields.
Developed in Germany and Austria, the patented material covers up to 50% of the shoe’s surface, depending on each style. The collected hay is pressed and then applied to a base layer. The resulting material features natural mountain scent and darkens in color over time like real hay, from dark brown to nearly black. The feel is very unique and natural, while you can smell the alpine hay and see the material’s natural texture. The final sneakers are entirely handmade in Italy and produced under fair conditions in a new family-run high-tech facility.
Like other nat-2 shoes, Hayfield sneakers are 100% vegan and equipped with soft padded, anti-bacterial real cork insoles. The glue is free from animal ingredients, the outsoles are made from real rubber, and the upper features nat-2 signature reflective glass details for better visibility and a techy look. The parts looking like suede or Nappa leather are made from recycled PET bottles.
The nat-2 Hayfield sneakers, as well as other brand’s products, are available for purchase at the Coilex online store for €390.00.
