Australian Student Designed a Longboard with Hubless Wheels

Everybody probably remembers light cycles from Tron: Legacy movie which featured large hubless wheels. This type of wheels was invented by Franco Sbarro, and their popularity have been growing from year to year. An Australian student Nick Perillo designed and produced a longboard with, as he says, Tron-like wheels.

Nick studies industrial design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Melbourn. He titled his project Zenyth, and this is the first produced longboard with hubless wheels. The design and production took over 12 weeks. All components, except for the springs, cams, bearings and bolts, were built from scratch with the help of some fancy CNC technology and some good old fashioned hand craftsmanship.
