‘The Saturn Watch’ & ‘The Saturn Clock’ by Marko Vuckovic

We have written about ‘green’ industrial design concepts by Marko Vuckovic earlier. This time we would like to feature two interesting concepts of a clock and a watch that are quite different from his other works. The great source of inspiration for these concepts was the image of Saturn, so Marko titled them The Saturn Clock and The Saturn Watch.

Marko considered it boring that typical clocks and watches have the same appearance with two or three hands moving the same way. So he got rid of these elements and replaced them with two discs. The discs have holes which reveal the time while rotating on a dial. Only the digits representing the present time are revealed and the rest remain concealed under the disc.

In spite of the fact that the clock and the watch look rather uncommon, they have nothing confusing in reading the time. The Saturn Clock also has a backlight that turns on automatically when a room becomes too dark.

It seems the idea of such a clock is very widespread, cos even I presented much similar clock in my student’s portfolio a year ago)) BTW I’m not a product designer.
